Siman 189 Seifim 8 - 12
-
If she saw 3 times over a period of three months in a
skipping fashion and then repeated the pattern two more times, she has
established a vesses of cyclical skipping. For example, if
she saw on the 15th of Nisan, the 16th of Iyar and the 17th of Sivan,
then again saw on the 15th of Tamuz, the 16th of Av and the 17th of Elul
and then again on the 15th of Tishrei, the 16th of Cheshvan and the 17th
of Kislev, she has established a cyclical skipping vesses.
She then suspects the 15th, 16th and 17th of months 1, 2 and 3
respectively.
-
If she saw on the first of Nisan, the first of Sivan (2
months later) and the first of Av (two months after that), she has
established a vesses for rosh chodesh that skips
months. However, if she saw on the 1st of Nisan, the 1sy of Iyar
and the first of Tamuz and she did not see on the 1st of Sivan, she has
not established any vesses
-
If she saw on the 15th of Nisan, the 16th of Iyar and the
18th of Sivan, she has not established a vesses because she
"jumped" in the third month and didn't see until the 18th.
-
If she experiences one or two skipping month cycles she
does not suspect the corresponding day in the coming month even though
we do suspect the corresponding days of other types of vestos.
She does not suspect the skipping vesses until she has
established it.
-
For this month-jumping pattern (described in Seif 9), the
first cycle is counted as the first of the three required sightings
according to everyone, even though her periods were delayed. With
respect to suspecting her vesses, the rules are similar to that
of a skipping vesses in which she suspects only from one rosh
chodesh to the next. For example, if she saw on the first of
Nisan she suspects the first of Iyar. If she did not
see until the first of Sivan she suspects the upcoming first of
Tamuz. If she does not see on the 1st of Tamuz, she
does not suspect the 1st of Av, even though there would be a 2
month spread from her previous period (mirroring her 2 month spread of
the previous set of cycles)
